RECTANGULAR MAGNET
"Close up" collection
Looking closely does not let you see the whole, but it can make you understand it.
We wanted to look closely at the trencadís because we wanted to see the fragments of domestic crockery and pieces of discarded pottery of the Pujol i Bases factory. We wanted to get a closer look at small pieces of domestic life of the early 20th century in Catalonia.
We approach the Nasrid wall tilings to see the imperfections of the chalk, ceramic and wood used to create the algebraic figures. Photographing just a fragment of the entire Nasrid mosaic we wanted to get drunk with geometry. We have stolen, with an image, the light of the yellows, reds, greens and blues of the main rosette window of the Cathedral of Mallorca.
And with these close-up images we create magnets. We create reminders of a time, of a style. A souvenir of a trip you have made, or you want to do.
"Far away" collection
The Cathedral of Mallorca, the lizard of Park Güell, the Sagrada Familia, the lions of the Alhambra.
The souvenir.
The images that everyone wants to take home if they have visited the monument.
You may think that they are typical images, easy to find. But these are not that easy to find.
We discovered and photographed the cathedral throughout a whole day. We photographed the pinnacle of the Sagrada Familia from a rooftop closeby. We did not photograph the lions of the Alhambra until we had seen and understood the Alhambra a little.
You may find similar or better images, but each of these images are the result of a trip. A trip that you could take.
